On October 1, eight members of the Rivers Edge Veterans Association (REVA) visited the Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) in Fayetteville, NC. With the support of Rivers Edge residents REVA was able to donate 236 pounds of personal care items for the patient’s Comfort Kits. Comfort Kit are distributed to incoming and resident patients at the Medical Center. In addition, REVA members socialized and conducted bingo games for 15 patients and awarded $95.00 in prize money. However, the hit of the day was the boxes of snacks REVA brought to the patients. Snacks included; Twinkies, Ding Dongs, Hostess Cupcakes, and Honey Buns.
At the end of the day REVA held a pizza party in River Hall to celebrate its second anniversary. Our membership now stands at 31 veterans. Our donations to veteran affiliated charities are in the thousands of dollars. REVA would like to thank the residents of River Edge for their generous support.
