On Friday, November 9, 2018 the Rivers Edge Veterans Association hosted a Veterans Day luncheon for veterans residing at Arbor Landing in Ocean Isle. Sixteen REVA members and spouses prepared a Thanksgiving style dinner with all the fix-ins. REVA served turkeys, ham, mashed potatoes, stuffing, green bean casserole and cranberry sauce. For dessert there were three pies, a sheet cake and plenty of cookies and of course REVA supplied plenty of beer. Nine Arbor Landing veterans were honored for their military service. Service time for these veterans ranged from World War II to Vietnam. In addition to the dinner, Lower Cape Fear Hospice honored the veterans by conducting a Veterans Service Flag Pining ceremony. Each Arbor Landing veteran was recognized for their service and awarded the flag pin. REVA members had the privilege of reading the proclamation and doing the pinning. Hospice members also honored the veterans by leading them in song, God Bless The USA
