As mentioned in my end of summer message, we have formalized processes to rebid periodically all contracts that typically are multi-year, including the contract for association management services. Following a thorough and detailed review, the REPOA Board of Directors has decided to award the association management services contract to Waccamaw Management, LLC, AAMC. The contract will be fully effective on January 1, 2019.
Six management companies responded to our request for proposals. We are pleased with the level of interest in serving Rivers Edge from these offerors and proud of the exceptionally positive impression our community has made on them all.
Management company services are very important to the efficient and effective functioning of our property owners’ association, maintaining our financial systems, providing administrative services, serving as liaison to property owners, and a variety of other critical functions. We believe Waccamaw Management offers the best fit for Rivers Edge now, providing efficient systems and responsiveness to Rivers Edge needs. In addition, Waccamaw Management has earned the Accredited Association Management Company (AAMC) designation from the Community Associations Institute (CAI) and will bring the best practices of the CAI to Rivers Edge.
In the immediate future, there will be no changes in the role of our current management services firm, Association Management of the Carolinas (formerly Coastal Communities at Ocean Ridge Plantation). Gail Miller, our property liaison, will remain your point of contact until December 31st. AMC is aware of our decision, one which was not made lightly since they have assisted Rivers Edge POA for the past 12 years. We appreciate they work and support over those years from the key personnel at AMC, especially Gail Miller and Martha Sue Ludlum.
The transition between the two firms will begin in October. As we work with both Waccamaw and AMC to establish the timelines and steps in the transition process, we will keep you fully informed along the way and how this change affects you. During the transition process, especially as we near the end of the contract period (the end of the calendar year), you will start to receive some communications from the new company (Waccamaw). We will ensure that communications are not duplicative and that instructions are clear.
